Frequently Asked Questions

How does Golden Crane Arts do it?

Some methods will remain a secret... but what we can tell you is that it is usually a mix of epoxy resin, standard art media, and natural materials.

Golden Crane Arts trusts Upstart Epoxy for epoxy resin and Technoglow for glow products. Use promocode GOLDEN at Upstart Epoxy and/or this Technoglow link for a 10% discount.

How do I “charge” the pieces so they glow in the dark?

15 minutes under a full spectrum soft white LED flood lamp is what we recommend.

Although UV lights (such as the sun and blacklights) charge the brightest and fastest at 5 minutes, they can also do the most damage.

Constant or excessive exposure to UV light will yellow the resin and can degrade the vibrancy of the colors and the overall quality of the piece.

Keep UV exposure time short to keep enjoying the glow in the future!

How long will the glow last?

Per Use

The glow is brightest after first being charged with light, but will start to fade in the first hour. The glow will completely fade in 6-12 hours.

Over Time

With proper care and minimal UV exposure, pieces should keep their glowing effect for about 20 years.

How do I clean the pieces?

For more delicate pieces, compressed air or gentle use of a cotton swab will be able to remove excess dust from the surface.

For larger or smoother epoxy resin coated pieces, you can gently wipe the surface with a damp cloth and then use a clean, soft cloth to dry.

How do I know I have an original piece?

The larger Golden Crane Arts originals will come with a certificate of authenticity, including instructions on how to authenticate if there ever is a question.

If you are looking to authenticate a piece, the certificate’s QR code will direct you to the authentication method.

Send the exact wording listed on the certificate for these 2 items:

  • Seal Location

  • Serial No.
